OMEGA Specialities Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition Watch
With the Olympic Games having recently commenced, OMEGA have announced the release of their latest special edition watch. Celebrating the materials of the medals award at the games, they have created a 39mm case crafted in OMEGA’s exclusive Bronze Gold, a radiant dial made from Ag 925 silver, and slender hands in 18K Sedna™ Gold with a special PVD Bronze Gold coating.
Inspired by their classic wristwatch from 1939, that housed the famous 30T manual-winding small seconds calibre. The dial is adorned with the vintage OMEGA logo and the “Clous de Paris” pattern. On the caseback, the “BG 859” engraving references the Bronze Gold used as well as the shape of the case. This follows the “CK 859” and “OT 859” references used in historic technical sheets. To see this beautiful piece in motion, check out the video below and for further details at OMEGA’s website.
Christopher Ward C65 Super Compressor Elite Watch
A super compressor watch, like the C65 Super Compressor Elite, enhances its water resistance through an ingenious mechanism. It involves an ultra-thin compression spring—just 300 microns wide—placed around the case perimeter. This spring uses increasing water pressure to press the caseback against the O-ring gasket, improving the seal as depth increases. Above the transparent caseback, a large steel coin deeply stamped with the original super compressor logo from Ervin Piquerez SA (EPSA) adds robustness and heritage.
The dive timer dial, designed by physicist, mathematician, and extreme diver Dr. Hannes Keller, includes a decompression scale for calculating necessary ascent stops, crucial for avoiding decompression sickness. The watch’s vintage charm is enhanced by a ‘glass box’ sapphire crystal with a ‘bubble’ edge, maximising the authentic 1960s aesthetic. Precision timekeeping is ensured by a chronometer version of the Sellita SW300-1 automatic calibre. Certifying it among the top six percent of Swiss-made mechanical movements for accuracy. OMEGA X Swatch Moonswatch Mission To The Super Blue Moonphase
Celebrating the summer season and the blue moon of August 19, 2024, this limited run chronograph features a striking blue Bioceramic case, crown, and pushers. Along with a complementary blue VELCRO® strap adorned with contrasting light blue topstitching and a blue Bioceramic attachment loop. The watch boasts a blue and silver-opaline panda dial. Accentuated by blue hands and hour markers, creating a visually captivating display. Setting itself apart from other models in the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection, this timepiece includes a unique blue Bioceramic bezel featuring a pulsometer scale with white markers.
A highlight of this model is its moon phase function, considered one of the most poetic watch complications. The subdial at 2 o’clock showcases two oversized blue moons against a dark blue moon phase disc that rotates, adding a celestial charm. Under UV light, a secret detail emerges on the moon phase mask and disc. Thus revealing a moon with various shades of blue on the battery cover. This latest OMEGA X Swatch is available for purchase only between August 1 and August 19, 2024. Exclusively from 5 pm onward at selected Swatch points of sale worldwide. Further info here.
Tiffany & Co Bird On A Flying Tourbillon Watch
Priced at $305,000, the Bird on a Flying Tourbillon watch is one of the most intricate and exclusive models ever produced by Tiffany & Co., with only 25 pieces available. Inspired by the Bird on a Rock design created by Schlumberger for Tiffany in 1965. This exquisite timepiece features a natural turquoise dial with wafer-thin slices of turquoise gemstone cut into cloud-like shapes. A diamond-set sub-dial shows hours and minutes, while two diamond-set birds, each hand-sculpted from 18k white gold and adorned with 147 diamonds, add to the watch’s intricate beauty.
The 39mm white gold case is set with 340 round brilliant diamonds contributing to a total of 848 diamonds (3.9 carats). All meticulously set in a process taking over 100 hours. The flying tourbillon mechanism is visible beneath a dome of faceted sapphire crystal. The watch is powered by the bespoke Calibre AFT24T01, a hand-wound movement developed under Tiffany’s direction by the Swiss manufacture Artime, comprising 205 components and offering a 60-hour power reserve.
