Hublot is quite different from many of the established Swiss brands we stock. Founded in 1980, its identity was built around combining traditional luxury materials with less conventional choices, beginning with the pairing of gold and rubber. This approach later became known as Hublot’s “Art of Fusion”.
The modern Hublot identity was established with the Big Bang in 2005. Since then, the brand has expanded considerably, with watches produced in titanium, ceramic, carbon, sapphire and proprietary materials alongside more traditional precious metals.
Buying pre-owned can be particularly interesting with Hublot because there is considerable variation between references and generations. Case size, movement, material and complication can substantially affect both the character of the watch and its pre-owned price.
Introduced in 2005, the Big Bang is the collection most closely associated with modern Hublot. Its layered case construction, exposed screws, rubber straps and combination of contrasting materials established a design language that remains central to the brand.
The collection now encompasses a wide range of watches, from earlier automatic chronographs to modern Big Bang Unico references and considerably more complicated limited editions.
For buyers comparing pre-owned Big Bang watches, the movement is particularly worth checking. Earlier references can use different movement architecture from later Unico-equipped watches, while case dimensions and materials also vary significantly.
The Classic Fusion provides a more restrained interpretation of Hublot’s design language. Its cleaner dial layouts and generally slimmer cases make it an appealing alternative for buyers who like Hublot but do not necessarily want the visual impact of a Big Bang.
The collection includes time-only watches, chronographs and openworked models across numerous sizes and materials.
References such as the Classic Fusion Ultra-Thin Skeleton demonstrate another side of Hublot, combining a comparatively slim case with a manually wound skeletonised movement.
Introduced in 2014, the Spirit of Big Bang transferred Hublot’s design language into a tonneau-shaped case. It retains recognisable details such as the layered construction, exposed H-shaped screws and extensive use of contrasting materials.
Spirit of Big Bang watches have been produced in titanium, ceramic, carbon and precious metals, with both chronograph and other configurations available.
Its curved tonneau case also wears differently from a similarly sized round Big Bang, so dimensions alone do not always give a complete impression of how a particular reference will sit on the wrist.
Hublot’s manufacture movement development became particularly important with the introduction of the Unico in 2010. The modern Unico is an automatic flyback chronograph movement with a column wheel visible from the dial side and approximately 72 hours of power reserve. Hublot itself confirms the Unico was launched in 2010 as its first manufacture-designed movement.
Not every Hublot uses an in-house movement, however. Different collections and generations use a variety of calibres, which is another reason to consider the individual reference rather than judging every Hublot by the same specifications.
Materials are equally important to the brand. Alongside titanium, ceramic and carbon, Hublot has developed materials such as Magic Gold, its proprietary scratch-resistant 18K gold alloy. This experimentation with movements, case construction and materials is central to what separates Hublot from more traditionally styled Swiss watchmakers.

Yes. Every Hublot available to purchase is physically held in stock by MVS Watches. We do not advertise watches on consignment or pre-sell stock held by an unrelated third party.
Hublot can offer particularly interesting value on the pre-owned market because many references are available significantly below their original retail prices. This can make models using ceramic, titanium, precious metals and manufacture movements considerably more accessible than when purchased new.
The Big Bang has a bolder, more complex case construction and is closely associated with Hublot’s modern sports-watch identity. The Classic Fusion uses a cleaner and generally slimmer interpretation of the same design language, making it the more understated of the two collections.
Unico is Hublot’s manufacture automatic flyback chronograph movement family, first introduced in 2010. Modern versions use a column-wheel chronograph architecture visible from the dial side and typically provide approximately 72 hours of power reserve.
Every Hublot is supplied with a 12-month MVS warranty. Some watches may also retain part of their original manufacturer warranty, which will be stated on the individual product listing where applicable.
