The Bel Canto’s defining feature is its hourly chime. A visible hammer strikes a gong as the hour changes, bringing sound to a watch whose mechanism is already part of the display. The hours and minutes sit above it on a smaller, raised dial.

The Bel Canto uses a sonnerie au passage complication, sounding a single chime at the start of each hour. It does not strike the number of hours or repeat the time on demand.
On the original C1 Bel Canto, the pusher at four o’clock switches the chime on or off, with a dial-side indicator showing the selected setting. You can therefore silence the chime while the watch continues to tell the time.
