The Breitling Navitimer has been produced in numerous sizes, movements and dial configurations since its introduction in the 1950s. Modern automatic chronographs are commonly available in 41mm, 43mm and 46mm cases, while earlier and discontinued references offer further variations.
Case diameter is only part of the decision. The Navitimer’s detailed dial, prominent bezel and chronograph layout give it a stronger wrist presence than many simpler watches of the same size. Case thickness, lug-to-lug length and the choice between a bracelet or leather strap can make an equally noticeable difference.
Modern Navitimer B01 models use Breitling’s Manufacture Calibre B01, providing approximately 70 hours of power reserve. Earlier references may use different automatic or manually wound movements and can offer a more accessible route into the collection. Buying pre-owned also provides access to discontinued dial colours, limited editions and configurations no longer available from Breitling.
Modern Navitimer chronographs are commonly found in 41mm, 43mm and 46mm sizes. The 41mm provides the most restrained fit, while the 43mm retains the substantial presence traditionally associated with the collection. The 46mm gives the dial and circular scale more space but naturally wears much larger.
The best choice depends on more than wrist size. Bracelet models usually feel more substantial, while a leather strap can make the same case feel lighter and less imposing. The detailed dial can also make a Navitimer appear larger than its stated dimensions suggest.
Every Navitimer is inspected before being offered for sale. We check the operation of the movement, crown, pushers and chronograph, including whether the hands start, stop and reset correctly.
We also assess the alignment and operation of the rotating bezel, along with the crystal, case, lugs, bracelet or strap, clasp and overall condition. Any accompanying box, papers, accessories and remaining manufacturer warranty are confirmed within the individual listing.
Our photographs show the actual watch being offered for sale, allowing its condition and included accessories to be examined before purchase.
The Navitimer is only one part of Breitling’s wider range. Buyers looking for stronger water resistance, a less detailed dial or a different style of chronograph can explore our complete selection of pre-owned Breitling watches.
