Introduced in 2012, the Black Bay draws on TUDOR’s earlier dive watches while covering a much wider range today. The family includes straightforward divers, GMT watches, chronographs and the smoother-bezel Black Bay One. Buying pre-owned also gives you access to discontinued colours, earlier movements and references that may be difficult to find new.
The name alone tells you little about how a particular Black Bay will wear. Case size, thickness, bracelet and movement vary across the range, so it is worth comparing individual references before choosing.
The Black Bay 54 and Black Bay 58 offer smaller cases and a more restrained fit. The 41mm Black Bay has a stronger wrist presence and is closely associated with the burgundy bezel that appeared on the original 2012 model. GMT references add a second time zone, while the Black Bay Chrono combines the family’s design with a chronograph.
The Black Bay range also includes TUDOR’s Daring Watches, such as the yellow-dial Black Bay Chrono 39 and the carbon-cased Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 26”.
Details also vary within a model line. A bracelet can change how a watch feels on the wrist, and newer references may have different movements, clasps or certification from earlier examples. Check the exact reference and what is included with the watch rather than assuming two Black Bays with similar names are identical.
We inspect the movement, winding and setting functions, crown, bezel, case, crystal, dial, hands, bracelet or strap and clasp. On GMT and chronograph models, we also check the additional functions.
Each listing states the watch’s condition, year, box and papers. Our photographs show the actual watch offered for sale, including details that help you judge its condition.
